2. Job Purpose

The Global Head of Development Sector will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs across education, health, food security, livelihood and economic growth, and climate change. The role ensures that all initiatives are inclusive, scalable, and aligned with global development agendas, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Agenda 2030, and other global frameworks, while embedding cross-cutting themes such as gender equality, youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and community participation.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a global strategy for development programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and international development frameworks, including the UN SDGs, Agenda 2030, and other global frameworks.
  • Lead the integration of cross-cutting themes (gender equality, youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and community participation) into sectoral strategies, operational frameworks, and program design.
  • Forge and maintain strategic partnerships with governments, multilateral organizations (e.g., UN agencies, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank), multilateral financial institutions (e.g., Global Climate Fund, Global Environment Facility, International Fund for Agricultural Development), international NGOs, academia, and private sector stakeholders to enhance program impact and secure funding.
  • Oversee the design, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of multi-sectoral projects, ensuring scalability, sustainability, and measurable outcomes across education, health, food security, livelihood and economic growth, and climate change initiatives.
  • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems to track program performance, using data-driven insights to optimize interventions and report impact to stakeholders.
  • Ensure accountability, transparency, and adherence to international quality standards (e.g., ISO 26000 for social responsibility) in all development programs.
  • Represent the organization in high-level global forums, policy dialogues, and donor meetings, advocating for innovative solutions and securing strategic alliances.
  • Drive resource mobilization efforts, including grant writing, proposal development, and negotiation of funding agreements with bilateral and multilateral donors.
  • Lead a diverse, global team of program managers, technical experts, and field staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for development programs, particularly in fragile or conflict-affected regions.
  • Innovate and pilot new approaches, such as technology-driven solutions (e.g., digital platforms, e-learning systems) and community-led models, to address complex development challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including safeguarding policies, ethical standards, and environmental sustainability requirements.
  • Contribute to shaping the development strategy, its implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

4. Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Education, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in international development, with demonstrated expertise across multiple sectors (education, health, food security, livelihood and economic growth, and climate change).
  • Proven track record in partnership development, resource mobilization, and managing large-scale, multi-country projects with budgets exceeding $10 million.
  • Experience working with global stakeholders, including governments, UN agencies, multilateral financial institutions, and international donors, in diverse cultural and political contexts.

5. Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking, with the ability to navigate complex global challenges.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and representation skills, with fluency in English (additional languages, such as French, Spanish, or Arabic, are a plus).
  • Expertise in program design, monitoring, and evaluation, with proficiency in M&E tools and frameworks (e.g., Logical Framework Analysis, Theory of Change).
  • Strong commitment to gender equality, youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and community-driven development.
  • Ability to manage diverse, cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

6. Commission Structure

  • Compensation Model: This is a commission-only position, with the Global Head of Development Sector receiving an agreed percentage of funding secured through grants, partnerships, or strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).
  • Performance Incentives: Bonuses or performance shares may be awarded upon meeting regional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as the number of countries activated, programs scaled, or achieving specific funding tiers.

7. Work Environment

  • Location: Flexible, with a preference for candidates able to travel to key global markets.
  • Travel: Frequent international travel for stakeholder meetings, program assessments, and partnership engagements.
  • Work Style: Hybrid, fostering a flexible and collaborative culture with access to global teams via digital platforms.
